In 2005, Pennyroyal's Founder, Tim Foster, created this simple necklace using a river rock, a construction hammer, a Leatherman, and a penny. The hands-on process resulted in a unique, meaningful gift that ignited a life-changing passion for metalwork and product design.

Tim dove head first into everything he could learn about jewelry design, and over the next 12 months of experimentation, developed Pennyroyal's first collection from his coffee table workshop in Minneapolis.

In February 2006, Tim, then 25, decided to leave the relative security of his full-time job in Marketing at Sony Music, move to Los Angeles, and launch the first Pennyroyal collection.
